Kaleidoscope is an annual free festival and block party held each April to provide a welcoming environment for families, celebrate Week of the Young Child, and raise awareness of Child Abuse Prevention month.

The first festival was held in 2023. Kaleidoscope earned the title of “Best Festival” in the 2025 Stillwater NewsPress Best of Stillwater awards.

P = Point Out: Talk about all the different booths. How are they alike and different?.

L = Laugh: What song do you hear that is silly and makes you laugh?

A = Ask: Which craft looks the most challenging?

Y = Yay: What is your favorite part of the festival?

"I Spy" is a great activity for children of a variety of ages. here are some ideas of things to find!

A balloon: how many can you count?

A community helper: what job do you think they do?

An animal: if you could give it a name, what would you call it?

Watch other children playing on the bounce house and describe their feelings.

Dance along to the music with your baby. How do they like to move?

Name the colors and shapes you see on the different vehicles around the festival.

Pretend you are in a band and play along with the music. What moves does a drummer make?

Invite your child to try an festival activity they have never done before.

Take pictures of your child doing different activities. Print them out when you get home, paste them on blank paper, and write a story together about going to Kaleidoscope.

Enjoy family time year-round at the Stillwater Public Library. The library offers books for all ages and interests, from black-and-white board books for infants to chapter books for teens. Additionally, there are programs ranging from storytimes, writing clubs, the Summer Reading program, and Teen Advisory Council.
